Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. My name is Craig Bergland, and I am the Founding and Presiding Bishop of the Universal Anglican Church, or The UAC. We are pleased to have migrated our website to a new host, and look forward to integrating video into our website by November 1st, 2012.
One of the things I really like about our new host is that it provides a way for our clergy to blog, upload pictures and news, and advertise their ministries easily in one spot – right here, on the home page of this website. On the other pages you can learn more about who we are and how you can become involved.
As you will see throughout our website, we are not your grandmother’s church. That’s not to say there is anything wrong with your grandmother’s church – in fact, it served her well for decades! What we are saying is that we live in a world of complicated schedules, multi-tasking, multiple responsibilities, and the institutional church has simply failed to keep up and become largely irrelevant. We can see clear evidence of this in the statistics: Less than 25% of those identifying as Christians are in church on a regular basis. Elvis has left the building.
Moreover, we live in the Internet era and so people are more informed than ever about religious and spiritual alternatives. Spiritual practices like Yoga and Meditation are growing by leaps and bounds, to cite just two examples. In the Universal Anglican Church you will find ministries that offer fairly traditional worship experiences, but with a progressive and inclusive message. You’ll also find alternatives such as meditation classes, Christ Enlight gatherings, retreats, inter-spiritual offerings, Contemplative and Compassionate Heart Communities, and a host of others. If you have a need which we aren’t addressing, please bring it to our attention – we will get something started to meet your needs.
Our model is based on journey together along the spiritual path. We believe we are here to learn from one another, to share experiences and friendships, provide mutual support, and most of all to laugh and love a lot! If I can be of assistance in any way, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at Craig.Bergland@gmail.com.
Namaste, Peace, and All Good,
+Craig Bergland
